Step 3. Run the IV and CV Tests

IV and CV characterization tests with InTEST HP289-PM Thermal Platform are done over a wide temperature range in the B1505A or B1506A test chamber. These tests can take several hours because the temperature must stabilize within the test chamber.

For specified accuracy, always allow the test instruments to warm up for a minimum of one hour before testing.

To run the IV and CV test procedure:

  1. Make sure that you have done all the preparation and configuration steps:

  2. Install your Device Under Test (DUT) to the test chamber by using the correct B1505A or B1506A accessory. Refer to the B1505A or B1506A user guide for guidance on connecting your DUT to the test chamber.

  3. Click the Start button () to start device characterization.

IV and CV device characterization plots appear on the B1506A or B1505A network analyzer screen, not on the host PC PD1000A display. The device characterization data is stored on the host PC in the output directory that you specify in the Settings > Global Settings menu.
    • Click the Stop () button to stop a measurement while it is running.

    • See Sample Plots for examples of the kind of output you can expect.
